In some situations, it’s necessary to change the keyboard, for example, if you want to write in a foreign language such as Spanish and need special characters, such as the tilde above a capital letter (“Ñ”). You can also generate these characters using ASCII codes, but this is cumbersome and time-consuming. If you write in this language frequently, it’s easier to install a suitable keyboard and set the changed keyboard layout in Windows.
You can add as many additional keyboard layouts as you like in the Windows settings and switch between them.

To do this, proceed as follows: Open Settings under the Windows Start menu and select Time and Language. Click on Language & Region, go to the three dots next to “English (United States)” and select Language options. Scroll down in the following window, click on Add keyboard in the “Keyboards” section and select the desired language from the list.
To change the keyboard layout, click on the icon that displays the language settings in the bottom right corner of the taskbar. Now select the desired layout from the list.
